International audience; The large diffusion of GIS is greatly improving the capacities of territorial analysis; yet these tools are increasing the weight of cartographic representations and the gap between the everyday's space and the space of town planning projects. GIS are certainly essential tools, but they require a reflection about their territorial effects. The maps of "intervisibility" which are produced this way are difficult to understand and address the issue of mediation.
